Meet the Learner: Physical Education and School Sport

Mon, June 06, 2016

Beginning her journey with CSL as a Coaching Trainee, Venetia has since come along way, having since progressed onto and completed an advanced apprenticeship programme in PE & School Sport. Through completing a mixture of assignments, work experience and Functional Skills qualifications, she’s now able to plan PE lessons and conduct activities for groups of learners. Her FS tutor commented that although Venetia needed to resit 2 of her exams, her continual commitment as well as dedication outside of the classroom, enabled her to study independently to achieve her goals and pass her exams.

Venetia told us:

“I found the vacancy by looking online for a PE Teaching apprenticeship; I saw the advert about working in a school that is local to me, so I applied. I didn’t know anything about CSL before, but I read up on what they are about and found it very interesting and decided I wanted to be a part of that.

I have gained a lot of knowledge and understanding of the apprenticeship, I am able to plan good and effective PE sessions for children and young people. I had always wanted to be a part of a PE department within a school.

I have got a lot of help from CSL allowing me to complete tasks as quickly as possible. The help through the assessments are very useful and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to become a PE Teacher. My journey with CSL has allowed me to work and learn at the same time, I am able to watch, listen and repeat sessions.

Being able to teach children and young people in PE has been my biggest achievement so far. Thank you CSL for this great opportunity.”

Venetia has recently become a permanent member of the team at Curwen Primary School and is looking to progress onto PTLLS qualification to quantify her skills and achievements. CSL wish her the best of luck with her career!
