Leisure Team Member Traineeship

New 16 week Traineeship Programme in Leisure Team Member.

This traineeship will provide a broad range of training to work within a leisure and fitness environment.

The successful Trainees will support an employer in a variety of duties to enable the provision of a range of activities for a range of target audiences.

Activities include:

  • Public access swimming, gym or Sports Hall use within leisure centres
  • Free to access community activity programmes such as (Led walks, community cycling groups, and community running programmes)
  • Participation programmes aimed at adults new too or returning to sport(back to netball, no strings), or with designated health conditions.

Duties to include

  • Presentation of all services within the centre.
  • General cleaning duties within the centre and surrounding areas.
  • Poolside supervision of users to ensure a safe environment is provided at all times.
  • Assist with deliveries of goods on site.
  • Undertake duties with respect to events and functions layouts and supervision.
  • Assist with customer enquiries and ensure their safe and enjoyable participation of activities.
  • The set up and storage of all equipment used on site.

Training Provided

In addition to the training listed below trainees will either be on the Fitness or Swimming Pathway and will achieve one the following qualifications:

  • National Pool Lifeguarding Level 2 Certificate
  • Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing

All Trainees will also undertake:

  • Emergency First aid
  • Safeguarding
  • Customer service/ concierge
  • Health and safety

The Traineeship opportunity includes work preparation training, maths and English support for those who require it and a high quality work experience placement.

Future progression

After successful completion of the Traineeship course, you will receive a certificate for your qualification, an exit interview with your work placement and a letter of reference upon request to support future job applications. You will also be ideally placed to apply for any paid roles that are currently on offer through the service or gain future delivery experience through support of core service programmes. In addition the service has a wide network of partner services that may also have relevant roles and positions to increase your experience and qualifications.
