Adventure Learning Foundation

Adventure Learning Foundation (ALF) have teamed up with Creative Sport & Leisure to employ young people deployed across ALF Villages,  Longridge Activity Centre, based on the banks of the Thames, just outside Marlow in Bucks, Longridge is a dynamic centre stuffed full of both water and land activities for children and adults alike. Green Park, a large ex-Rothschild estate that provides an extensive range of adventurous outdoor and indoor activities, as well as comprehensive conferencing services and accommodation. Shortenills, a stunning collection of wooded meadows in Chalfont St Giles with a small but passionate team dedicated to teaching a variety of environmental studies to young people.

This partnership is based on a shared vision: to raise the participation levels and quality of provision for activities provided to young people to develop a wider skill set and self-confidence, through the diverse and valuable experiences they will encounter whilst at an ALF Village. ALF will support member trusts to push forward growth, whilst further improving the quality and professionalism of their Centre’s purposes. We hope that through training apprentices and providing opportunity for work based learning, this can be achieved.

Apprentices will have the opportunity to work across each of our distinct sites, specialising in land-based activities, water-based activities and environmental studies respectively. Apprentices will gain experience across our range of adventurous activities, including climbing, archery, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, dragon boating, low ropes and high ropes, and bushcraft. As part of the ALF Villages family apprentices will also be exposed to the full range of operations that are required in order to run our sites, which will provide additional broader experience relevant to the outdoor industry.
